MTD – what is it?
In the good old days, you could create a VAT return and submit it without worrying too much about how the underlying data was displayed. With the introduction of MTD (Making Tax Digital), it’s a whole different ball game! We find many of our clients who were happy to file their own report previously are much happier getting us to do it!
MTD means you will need an MTD compliant software package to produce and submit your VAT return. We use Xero as it suits most clients and is quite logical as accounting software goes! We are happy to provide this software as part of our VAT submission service at no extra charge!
All businesses, regardless whether they are voluntarily registered or not, will need to file via MTD compatible software after 1st April 2022.
